1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
Out of Africa, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in one of the most romantic movies that I've ever seen. The first time that I watched it, I had just had my heart broken. The movie was cycling through on Showtime and I watched it every time it played over a period of two days. Spoiler alert: Redford's character dies in the movie but he dies loving her! I wish that I had thought to buy stock in Kleenex.
2. Name a movie that you've seen multiple times in the theater.
Annie Hall, I loved the movie and wanted all my friends to see it. It was summer and I was a carefree college student, so I'd go with anyone who had not yet seen the movie. I saw it four times in threedays.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington (I couldn't decide on one)
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
No one, I have been pleasantly surprised with performances by an actor in one film that I didn't care for in another. I don't write off a performance or a movie without witnessing it for myself.
5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from.
Casablanca and any movie starring Bette Davis
6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs.
Funny Girl, I love Barbra Streisand. I first watched Funny Girl when I was in college. I immediately went out, purchased the soundtrack, and listened to it non-stop for an entire weekend. It's a wonder that my suite mates didn't throttle me.
7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.
Funny Girl, why spend all that time learning the lyrics if not to sing along?
8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
I can't. I love movies and I think that selecting movies to view is a very personal thing. I will recommend a few films that I think merit viewing but I can't say that they will suit everyone's tastes--Oscar and Lucinda, Casablanca, Malcolm X (the Spike Lee film), The Piano, Agnes of God, The Crying Game, The Color Purple,The Mother, Inside Man, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, The Enforcer, Dr. No, The Letter, and Now, Voyager.
9. Name a movie that you own.
Gone With the Wind
10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Barbra Streisand
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
Yes, when I was a child, Wilson had the Starlite Drive-In Theater. My dad was on the local police force and one of the perks was that he got free movie passes to the drive-in. We'd load up the car, my mother would make Kool-aidin a red and white insulated jug, pop a big container of popcorn, and off we'd go. (My dad didn't believe in spending any money at the concession stand.) I saw many movies at the drive-in but the one that stands out is Gone With the Wind.
12. Evermade out in a movie?
Yes. What, you expected details?
13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven’t yet gotten around to it.
The Last King of Scotland
14. Ever walked out of a movie?
No. Once I've paid my money, I'm there until the end.
15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
Forrest Gump
16. Popcorn?
Yes, large, with butter and a diet coke. The diet coke is health food.
17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
Around 8-10 times a year, before HBO, Starz etc. I used to go 3 or 4 times a month.
18. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
Dreamgirls
19. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
Hard question, I love adventure/action movies. I've seen all of the James Bond films and I never pass up an opportunity to watch a Clint Eastwood film, no matter how many times I've seen it. But I also love romantic comedies, musicals, docudramas, foreign films...I'm a movie genre slut.
20. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
The Sound of Music
21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Saw II, I found it pretentious and full of pseudo psychology meant to suggest that something of significance was being revealed amidst all the gore and violence. I haven't seen the other two Saw movies and don't intend to do so.
22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Bitter Moon
23. What is the scariest movie you've seen?
The Exorcist
24. What is the funniest movie you've seen?
I've seen quite a few funny films but the most recent film that made me laugh out loud was The Wedding Crashers

I am not much of a movie person but you bet your boots being a girl of the 50's I've seen many movies at the drive-in and popcorn yes. Did I make out? I'll never tell. Paula
I love going to the movies. it's my new favorite past time. There's a new movie out called "The Ultimate Gift." I've read the book and if the movie equals the book...everyone should see this movie. Linda in Washington
hiya my second blog on google blogger is called ast the movies it is a work in progress and i will add to it however bette davies gets the first mention check it out, this is one of my main passions and i own over 300 movies from the golden era. nkice to see you back take care yasmin
Yeah, my dad was a western and war movie fan.... so I watched lots of westerns and war movies growing up... most definitely John Wayne movies. Before my father died, he was building a huge collection of VCR movies by taping them off the tv. He had hundreds of them. It was a hobby of his. I don't know what ever happened to all those movies... I think mom had to sell them at a yard sale after he died because she needed money (she sold lots of stuff just before she moved to Alabama). Yes, I love movies too. I go every weekend if my husband is off, which is usually half of the year. There's a family theater in Graham, NC that costs only $2 per person to get in, and you can get a large popcorn and large drink for $5... with free refills!! What a bargain. My favorite theater. I'd much rather watch the movies in the theater, especially this one because it has Dolby surround sound, and it's got those old fashioned enourmous screens. I love eating popcorn and watching a good movie. It's my comfort activity... I won't be writing about my favorites just yet... can't seem to think that deeply tonight. But it's possibly a future entry. Loved your choices! bea
Glad you are back, Sheria, with this interesting entry on movies. I, too, love movies and many of the ones iyou mention are also favorites of mine. Doc is a great movie lover, too, and we just watched Casablanca together and loved every moment of it. I love it that he is always bringing home treasures he finds to the library. He will say, I thought you would like this. We just watched a documentarymovie called "Tarnation" that really moved me. It was made by a guy whose mother was constantly incarcerated in mental institutions and given elecrric shock 100 times. He showed her living with him when he was 30, and he said such touching things about her being a part of him. He was asking her dad why he thought she needed shock treatment. When you see a treatsure you are thankful there are such art forms as movies Gerry http://journals.aol.com/gehi6/daughters-of-the-shadow-men/
what a delightful entry! i loved your commentary on movies in general, and your meme was interesting and enlightening. i enjoy watching movies, of course....but i can't claim to be a movie buff...i do well to remember titles and cast. lol but i do love almost anything in which tom hanks, denzel washington or harrison ford stars.

Sheria,
I used to think I was creative, but the way you put your journal together is amazing. I have no idea how you put pictures into your blog, or where you get them from. You have a really good memory too. I remember going to the drive-in, but I have no idea what was playing.
I came back trying to walk on a high-wire, but I'm afraid I've fallen off. I'm glad you're happy.
Deb
Very enjoyable post! I shall have to do this meme myself. I love these things! I, too, loved and love movies!

Okay Sheria I accept your challenge. I know the "Fasten your seatbelts" Davis said in "All About Eve" while walking up the stairway at the party, as Ann Blythe was about to take her role in a broadway show. This was also Marilyn Monroe's first real screne appearance, as George Sanders date, remember? And "don't let's ask for the moon" was the last line in "Now Voyager", after Henreid lights both their cigarettes (swoon). "Oh Blanche" was from "What Ever Happened To Babyjane?" And who could forget her courage in "Dark Victory" as she planted her last flowers in a garden she couldn't see. As for MM in "Niagra" how did she get those jeans on? Bergman in "Notorious", with Gary Grant. Probably her best. And when Grace Kelly wore her perfect pearls and held them up to Grant and said, with cleavage showing, "Well, THESE aren't fake." The original "To Catch A Thief" I believe. The search for the perfect Scarlett was world wide, and was about to be awarded to Paulette Goddard, but they chose Vivian. When she played Blance DuBois in "Streetcar Named Desire" Vivian Leigh played off Brando perfecly. When she died, suffering from the mental disorders that plauged her life, Olivier's exact words were "Poor Viv..." Davis in "Jezebel" what a treat. I never was sure she could pull off Queen Elizabeth I in "Elizabeth & Essex" but she really did! And of course, is there a Davis movie that comes close to "Of Human Bondage" with the poor, infactuated Leslie Howard, crippled both mentally and physically, and I even believed Davis' faux English accent. Was a woman ever more cruel and cold, yet a man more hopelessly bound to a woman? And she was so young when she made that! O heck I could go on...so wanna talk movies sometime lol? Love ya, xoxo CATHY

I don't have time to take up the meme, Sheria, but just wanted to say that I saw Casino Royale this week and it was, imo, the best of James Bond movies... that Daniel Craig is adorable. The story was the best of 007 as well, I think, without all that science fiction technology... this JB is real, and he is living now, and he doesn't need gadgets to help him complete his mission. Although, the heart defibrillator in his car did come in handy when ... well, don't want to spoil it. I am in love with the new James Bond, and now I want to see all of Daniel Craig's movies. He is too cute! bea
Casablanca and Annie Hall are awesome. Your music is also much improved!

Good answers!! I think the only thing you and I agree on here is "The Exorcist". I've added you to my alerts -- which means you better write more frequently! ;) You're a good writer!!

Vivien Leigh lived in the village of my birth, at Notley Abbey, when she was married to Sir Laurence Olivier.

I loved this, it showed a different side to you. Believe it or not the woman who always encourages others philosophically and tries to encourage strength and joy in their lives; likes horror movies. Why? I believe it's because I've lived with enough horror in my life and it's not a far reach for me to understand the violence that happens in these films. Then again when the holidays roll around , I'm a little kid loving such early films such as "It's a Wonderful Life", "The Christmas Carol" starring George C. Scott. It's been a few years since I've been able to enjoy the movie theatre experience. My local theatre doesn't cater to hearing impaired individuals yet, so I usually have to wait for something to come out on DVD.
I sometimes tend to love watching films of courage "The Color Purple" is one. My all time film is nothing like I normally watch. "A River Runs Through It" starring Brad Pitt. It's a really heart felt movie, along with "Legends of The Fall". (Hugs) Indigo
