Rockin' Girl Bloggers

Recently, three friends, Bea (Wanderer), Robin (Random Threads), and Shauneen (Bits of Me), named me as a Rockin' Girl Blogger. I was thrilled with the title even though I didn't have a clue as to the origins of the award. At my age, I'm thrilled that anyone thinks of me as rockin' and a girl to boot! So I put on Aretha's greatest hits and rocked until I passed out (approximately 4 minutes). I then thanked each of them for thinking of me and saying such nice things about me. When you're having a down day or just too much to do, there is nothing more uplifting to a weary spirit than the love that friends pour over you in journal land. Of course, each of these three ladies is also a Rockin' Girl Blogger!

After doing a little research, I discovered that the creation of the Rockin' Girl Blogger award is attributed to Roberta Ferguson, who has a blog entitled Blogging Made Devilishly Simple. I zipped over to her blog and it is a wonderful source of all sorts of information on how to popularize your blog. She's a clever and informed writer and a lot of fun to read.

It is now my turn to designate five women as rockin' girl bloggers who have not been tagged before. There are so many to choose from, that it has been difficult choosing only five. I have decided to refrain from naming anyone already tagged by someone else (although, by the time that I finish this entry, all of my selections may have been previously tagged!). Here are my selections in no particular order.

Lamonique (Woman in Progress): She's a writer, a mom, and an all around creative person. She writes with great honesty and you can always feel her heart in the words that she shares. An interesting twist is that Lamonique and I discovered that her father and my mother actually know each other. We're from the same town in NC (although neither of us lives there now)!

Gerry (Daughters of the Shadowmen): A prolific writer who is sharing her memoirs of a life well-lived with her readers. I adore her eye for detail and admire her honesty in telling her story. Sometimes her writing makes me cry, sometimes laugh out loud and always it makes me reflect on life.

Dina (Dina's Thoughts): A wonderful young woman with such a love of family, she writes from the heart, always from the heart and with great wit and affection.

Cathy (Dare to Think): A truly eclectic thinker, she writes about a wide variety of topics from astronomy to prehistoric humankind. She also writes thought provoking poetry. Cathy really lives up to the title of her journal; she makes you think and enjoy doing it!

Kate (An Analysis of Life): Her journal is a mind stimulating blend of philosophy, history, and archaeology. Her topics span centuries and I am consistently enchanted with her historical perspectives.

There are so many others that I could name here. I guess that's why the guidelines are to only list five! I understand that there is also a rockin' guy bloggers award; I'll have to take it up on another day.

In honor of all rockin' girls, the new song is Aretha singing Baby I Love You. Kick off your shoes, throw up you hands and rock!

I'm so pleased you're being recognized as the talent you are!  Though he word "rockin" is a 21st century one, I'll retreat to the 60's and call you "groovy"!!  Thanks xoxo CATHY

Oh thank you, your words are kind! I posted another woman artist's perception of natives in New Guinea.  I love her painting of a couple she wrote that had a 'mystical union rare in any society."  Intrigueing comment, huh? I  go to some of the blogs you named, but intend to check out the ones I have not visited.  Gerry
